The avariel

In the same legend of the Sundering, it is the avariel people who emerge the heroes for the rest of humanity. It is said that in the war, a faction of the elvenkind abandoned both philosophies of superiority and retreated from civilization to make their home in the natural world. The withdrawal of the avariel made it impossible for the sylvan to retain their grasp of cultural superiority over the other races. The avariel embraced nature so deeply that through some means they acquired wings. The legends concerning this change range from divine blessings to matings with birds. The avariel do, however, worship the spirits of the forest as well as, and in some cases instead of, the Triad. Their culture is seen as slightly primitive and mystical and their own belief that they were the righteous actors in the Sundering has created the same sense of superiority they claim to have disdained so many millennia ago.
