Below range attacks

The act of taking any aggressive action toward someone BR to you is illegal, with the following exceptions:

Provocation and self-defense:

You may defend yourself when attacked by a BR person. You may also attack a BR person under circumstances of EXTREME provocation. Examples include relentless verbal harassment over a period of days, interference
with a combat you are involved in OTHER than pushing or dragging your opponent, any action that would start a fight automatically, and stealing or attempting to steal from you. If a BR person interferes with a combat you are involved in, you may only attack them until their fight lag wears off (ie: They can quit or cannot be pushed/dragged from safe).

The assisting of guild members:

An ESTABLISHED guild run by an immortal can come to the aid of a BR guild member who is being attacked. Within fight lag of the BR guild member being attacked, all members may protect and hunt the person
whom attacked. This only applies of the BR member did NOT initiate the combat.

The assisting of group members:

You may assist BR group members who are being attacked by someone BR to you. Autoassist and the casting of spells which would not prevent the fleeing of the attacker (IE: no bash etc. no blind, curse, etc.) are acceptable terms of assisting. They may be pursued until they are out of fight lag. This only applies if the BR member did NOT initiate the combat.

Attacking "up":

If a BR intentionally attacks someone AR to them, they essentially lose all protections afforded to BR characters. They are open to attack, subject to the same laws as if they were IR, by those they attack, their friends, family, guild-members, etc. as if they were IR. The only way to escape from this situation is to appeal to Vermillion for a restoration of BR protection under the law or for an adjudication that the original attack was accidental or otherwise justified. Only a Vermillion immortal or mortal leader may restore these rights.

Attacking someone who is BR to you will result in the following:

Vermillion will hunt you. All Vermillion will be free to attack and knock you out. The standard loot for an attack that does not result in a knockout is 5 items. The standard loot for a person whom is knocked out will be 10 items.

If a Brawler attacks a BR non-Brawler they can expect to face extreme punishment, including jail time.

Be aware that flagrant BR attacks may be handled by Immortals and any use of the above exceptions had better be held above board.

If you want to be absolutely sure that provocation by a BR is sufficient to justify attacking him without causing a problem with Vermillion, you should apply to Vermillion for "OOL rights". This right may be granted by a Vermillion IMM or by the Vermillion mortal leader. If you attack someone who is BR and provoking you WITHOUT OOL rights, you are taking your chances that Vermillion will find the provocation sufficient to justify the attack.

OOC: For lack of a better place to put it, I want to mention here that race-hater based attacks are not allowed on BRs. (Some char's "role" includes hatred of a particular race.) Such attacks will be handled by IMM
